Professor Julie Loeffelholz took us on a walk on the trail that starts behind Menards and runs all the way into town. She showed us some of the things that could be considered safety hazards on our walk. We got to talk to her a little about what the ITM department here at Platteville is all about and why safety is so important to think about on a recreational trail. We found a few things of note, such as trees that could be hazardous in strong winds if they fell on the trail, an unmarked culvert, and an overhanging roof that could release sheets of snow on the trail in the right condition. Thank you to everyone who came and walked the trail, and a special thank you to Julie for facilitating our safety tour.
